10k gold is 41.6% pure gold mixed with other metals and alloys and is there least expensive and most popular option. Being the most least pure it has less luster but is the most durable and strongest to prevent bending and scratching. Prone to tarnish if your a smoker/drinker and you will have to clean consistently.
14k gold is 58.3% pure gold and has a nice hardness and durability with a bright luster. It is the best overall option for balance of color, cost, and durability.
18k gold is 75% pure gold mixed with metals and alloys and is the most expensive option. 18k gold is usually used for permanents and the only karat we allow for permanents but can also be used for snatchouts. 18k gold has a high gold content and will be the most tarnish resistant, but is also more soft and prone to bending and scratching.
